All are invited to join the High Peaks Birders for a birding stroll at Ridge Junction on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Wednesday, September 20th at 7:30 a.m.  The outing is open to anyone interested in learning about birds and especially bird migration.

Ridge Junction is a well-known birding hotspot, especially for fall migrants.  The configuration of the mountain ridges serves to funnel migrating birds, especially early in the morning after a night of flight.

We could see multiple warbler species (Tennessee, Cape May, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Canada, Hooded, Chestnut-sided, and others), Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Scarlet Tanager, Swainson's Thrush, and even migrating Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.

Meet at Ridge Junction, which is a pull-out on the Parkway at Milepost 355.4.  It is located next to the entrance to Mt. Mitchell.

Photo Info: Birders may glimpse colorful species like this Rose-Breasted Grosbeak on the Sept. 20 High Peaks Birder outing.
