As you may know, NC High Peaks took on a new task this past year-- serving as the Crabtree Falls Chapter of Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Part of our responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness of the many overlooks on our almost fifty mile section of the parkway.

This coming Wednesday, November 15, 9 am, we will meet at the parking lot at Buck Creek Gap, where SR 80 S crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there we will form two carpools. One group will head south, the other north. We'll stop at each overlook to pick up cans, glass, cigarette butts and assorted other trash. While we're at it, we'll also check for graffiti and clean any we find.

Bring water and a sack lunch. We'll provide trash bags, plastic gloves and hand sanitizer.

This has been a twice annual activity for several years and it's always a lot of fun!
